Why is every ingredient locally produced – except for Coffee?

It’s becoming a recurring theme, that when I walk around Sheffield and drop into many coffee shops (On a personal level not on a sales pitch) they seem to serve coffee roasted in other cities. I mean these are great shops, with amazing proprietors and well trained baristas. So why in a world were we champion local produce is coffee not falling into this category?

Final Testing Phase and New Friends.

 We’re pretty much finalising our products ready for launch in a few weeks. The website has had a little update and is worth having a look at (buckshotcoffeeroasters.com). I have picked my bags, and I’m leaking the branding almost weekly. The research I’ve done and the amount of coffee I have drunk is really growing – and I am happy that what we will put out there will be spot on.

The 350g Argument

As interest (and knowledge) grows around coffee one issue that keeps coming up is finding the ideal size for retail packs. For many years 250g has been pretty standard in terms of making a nice metric split of a kilo of coffee – but recently the 350g bag has started creeping in.

Aeropress Revelation.

It’s no secret that I’m in Florida right now, lapping up the 85oF weather – zero chance of rain, not a cloud in the sky. But before I came I made sure of one thing. I ordered a Aeropress and Porlex Mini to the house we are staying in. You might think that is a little OTT and I agree that maybe I should just put up with the local offerings. But this is the thing; the closest place that can make a flat white is 45 minutes drive away – other than that it’s dunkin’ donuts and Starbucks all the way. Now as my last post indicated I’m not exactly a fan of Starbucks, so to avoid drinking shitty coffee I thought the investment necessary to make sure I enjoyed my coffee.

So, amongst other things, I have been reading into SEO (search engine optimization) and trying to make sure that my “web presence” is up there with the rest of them. So I decided I better make my website live.
